Studio on the Pond ~ Enchanted Quills ~ ChaeyAhne

Early on in my career while my 3 children were still young I felt it necessary to keep my public life separate from my private life, and so created a nom-de-plume. My work can be seen worldwide as the artisan known as Chaeyahne ie: ChaeyAhne SilverFox Designs.

Though I can create artworks & portraiture in a realistic/hyper-realistic fashion, my heart prefers to illustrate & create horse designs (design in general actually) in a more specialized creative manner. I love color, all colors, and prefer to design my horse creations as I see them within my minds eye. Colorful, beautiful, wild, and flowing, embodying the vary nature from which my intuitive mind interprets. I have found that this style of design was similar to how my mother created her art, and traditional in many ways thus intuitively embracing much of my Scandinavian/Northern European heritage. 

Like my mother before me who studied & created folk painting for the American Swedish Institute in Minnesota in her 20's, I am also a trained folk artisan, specifically in the art of Bauernmalerei. The word Bauernmalerei translates as "peasant painting" (literally "farmer painting") from German. One of the specific's of this style of folk painting is the outlining done in white, or a lighter color, other than the traditional black that is often seen.

... as an add in ... I am also a shepherd, and can take the wool shorn from my own flock of romney sheep or German angora rabbits, process it by hand, and spin it on my spinning wheel into a beautiful yarn for knitting or crocheting, and yes ... I can do both.  

In the 40+ years I have been creating art I have learned and mastered many of its traditional methods and tools. I am fluent in brush, quill, pencils, and pastels, along with gold leafing techniques & calligraphy. 

I have extensive experience in kiln fired painted glasswork, china, and porcelain, as well as actual stained & kiln fired painted glass. I crafted wooden carousels from my own pattern designs for many years under the business name of BhryiahrWood Creations, and wood carving is high on my list of creative outlet methods. Porcelain clay work. beadwork, wirework, pyrography, and sewing, mediums of which I  absolutely adore, and use often in my designs. Carved and painted gourds, dreamcatchers, leatherwork, as well as resin pour design are all favorite mediums of mine.

Feathers, other than painting, feather art, horse artistry & quill making is my main specialty. Putting together all of these mediums and abilities into a single area is my goal at this stage of my career (hoping for 1 more decade), depicting the spirit of horses with color & beauty, embracing their wild and unique spirit and energy in each.   

SPIRIT HORSES OF HEART OF THE WILD

Heart of the Wild Sanctuary rests on a wooded 21 acre tract in West Tennessee, and the grounds of my personal studio known as Studio on the Pond (Enchanted Quills).

The senior horses, and PTSD challenged ones here are provided haven from the traumas they formerly suffered, and provide inspiration for the artwork which when created is offered to the public, and through the sales of which provides for their care. I call this a Blessing Circle, and they my Spirit Horses. The Spirit Horse art I create is a product of that energy we share, the horses and I.

I too suffer medically diagnosed PTSD, as well as depression, and they help hold space in this life for me, as I hold it for them. 

Heart of the Wild is a memorial sanctuary, co-founded between my mother & myself, in 2015. She had a great love for nature, and especially horses. She was a schooled professional artist specializing in art design, fashion illustration, and advertising, Mom was also an avid writer, and it its through her that my own creative talent came. I will add more about her life, as well as the creative backdrop of our artistic family, as I can.
